Once upon a time this was a coffee table in a rugged, ranch, Ponderosa Bonanza sort of way.
It had been relegated to the garage, or barn, or shed or some other dusty place that was full of spiders. It was really grimy and all beat up when I found it at the flea market a couple of months ago.
My sister-in-law wanted a chalkboard table for one set of grandkids for Christmas and I suggested this one. It turned out better than I expected. I love the way the base popped after I cleaned, sanded, and polished it. All the bumps and dings smoothed out and the finish made it gleam.
The base caught my attention first and I wasn’t sure how the four panels would work as a chalkboard table. But I couldn’t resist the wrought iron curve in the base and with child Number Four on the way each of the kids can have a panel of their own. It’s perfect.
Now I’m on the lookout for some chairs to fit.
